Welcome to my first blog post for Working Mom 2 Three!
I am beyond thrilled to finally be launching my blog. I’ve put a lot of research and planning into creating a site that can be a go-to place for a community of working parents who are interested in learning new tips and practices for succeeding when you are naturally disorganized.
What does that mean, “naturally disorganized?” Well, that’s a good question. Have you ever describe yourself as “missing the organization gene”? Or do you spend hours and money on organizing yourself – the desk, your garage, your closet, only to have it become disorganized six months later? Do you love the pretty color coded file folders, but then you can’t find anything you filed away in them. Or, you just have a pile of filing to do? That’s what being naturally disorganized looks like. It’s not that we don’t know how to be organized, and it’s not that we don’t want to be organized, but it doesn’t come naturally to us, and really, we just don’t care that much!
I always joked with my friends that one day I was going to write a book for people like me who were “terminally disorganized”. But, I didn’t like the negative slant that implies, and when I was doing my research for this site, I found that there really is a term for the way I am – naturally disorganized. This makes sense to me, and it also takes the negative stigma away from the way we are. There is nothing wrong with being naturally disorganized. But, when you have a full-time, demanding job, kids, a home to run, a family to feed, etc., you need some strategies for being somewhat organized so that your disorganized self isn’t counterproductive to a successful life.
So, what will you find here to help you be more effective and efficient?
- Monday Musings – my thoughts on different organizational topics, tricks and tools. I’ll use this to introduce a theme for the week – if I have one.
- The Dinner Bell – meals to make in about 30 minutes. Full meals, not just one dish. Oh, and sometimes some dishes that take longer, and maybe a dessert or two.
- Life Hacks – All sorts of strategies for meeting your priorities and being a successful working parent, including stuff like meal planning, laundry, cleaning, etc. These are the ones with not too much effort, but big pay off.
- Technology – news and reviews of the latest technology that helps us to stay on track (but can also drive us crazy!)
- The Bin Dump – a wrap up of the week, and links to other sites, articles, or tips that you might find helpful.
Since I have a full-time, demanding job already, please bear with me while I get up and running. My goal is to be able to post at least three times a week and then maybe more if I can fit it in.
I am really looking forward to interacting with you – sharing your experiences is what will make this site valuable for all.
