Ahhhh, the weekend. This is the first one in over a month that we won’t have any snow. Dontcha know that I’ll be stuck inside doing our taxes! It doesn’t bother me too much – I’m sure the streets and stores will be busy with everyone who has been suffering from cabin fever. Besides, I’m still keeping it low key as I recover from my procedure/surgery – which went well all things considered.
Sunday is March 1st, and while I always dread March as a long winter month with no holidays, I am so glad to be at the beginning of the end of this winter. My son will be coming home for Spring break next week – so it can’t be far behind, right?
I have to travel for business next week, so forgive me if posts are a little light. I’ll try to get some things queued up this weekend.
As usual, here is a recap of this week’s posts and some additional sites that I bookmarked:
Outsourcing – it’s a good thing!
Dinner tonight or make-ahead and freeze, hamburger bake is a crowd pleaser.
Have you organized your freezer lately? Maybe a good project for this weekend . . .

Last weekend I finished reading “I Don’t Know How She Does It” by Allison Pearson. It’s really an old book (circa 2001?), but the themes haven’t changed. I found it entertaining – it sometimes was a little extreme with the examples of working mom vs. stay at home mom, but some things rang true for today as they did a decade ago. I think the movie got panned, but I’m going to see if I can stream it from Netflix. Read any good books lately?
There are so many good tips for organizing your freezer out on the internet. I thought Rachel Ray had a few gems in these tips for stocking and organizing your freezer. My original inspiration for this post was one of my favorite bloggers, Brown Eyed Baker, who shared her tips in this post.
Once your freeze is all organized, you might be looking for some ideas of meals to make and freeze. If you are intimidated (as I am) by all the “101 freezer meals” or “freezer meals for a month” posts, here is a post for just the top five freezer meals (with bonus 6th) that you can make and freeze. Think about adding one of these a week to your usual dinner rotation (only the “Chicken with Wild Rice” is not a week-night meal – takes 1 hour to cook) and make double to put in the freezer. That way you can even rate them as you try them 🙂
